The donations for this project will help provide my students with more engaging and entertaining experiences through the novel sets we utilize. It will help address the comprehension strategies and skills, as well as improve their language and vocabulary skills. The novel sets will also help engage my students in more meaningful discussions, entertaining hands-on activities and even compare and contrast it to other stories and movie versions. We have already done so with "The Giver". Even though the sets we have were a falling apart, the students in one period were able to think outside of the box to analyze and compare the utopia in the book with what they know their society to be. It helped the students make connections and empathize with the character(s) in the story. It was very motivating to see how much more engaged and vested my students were to do activities, read the chapters and complete homework and assessments from this novel study than their own weekly Wonders Curriculum. To fund these novel sets out of my own pocket is very challenging for me. I know my students will greatly appreciate it. I know I will!
