Currently, my students are transitioning into flexible seating in our classroom. One of the challenges is that they no longer have their desks to store textbooks, binders, notebooks, and other supplies. They are using their cubby space to hold all of the above items. Having storage bins that can slide in and out of their cubbies easily will help organize their items and make them accessible. Currently, the students have to sometimes pull everything out of their space in order to find the correct item. With the bins to hold all their items, it will save time and help to keep their supplies organized, and cut down on our transition times between subjects. This is a big step as a 5th grader to take on this level of responsibility, and anything I can do to help assist them in this process will carry on with them in future school years.
