The focus mitts and body shields requested would be used to train our students in self-defense. Studies show that adolescents are the most vulnerable members in our society to abuse. We are attempting to address this issue by educating our students in physical and verbal self-defense. Preventative programs such as self defense has been shown to empower students, instill confidence, and help them to avoid abuse in their future. In order to implement this course, we need to provide gear so that our students can practice the skills that they will learn. The more gear we are able to collect for this project, the more students we will be able to serve.
