Our school is a Title I elementary school with an open-access gifted and talented education program. That means that ALL students are given instruction by GATE endorsed teachers all of the time. Our students are a diverse group, representing a wide range of ethnicity and ability. First grade is an pivotal time for developing reading skills and while we have access to listening centers (CD players and headphones), our school library has only outdated cassette tapes with single books. We would love to have several quality literature selections that include a CD and a book set so that small groups can listen to reading and follow along independently. This allows teachers to give more students the individual and small group reading instruction they need on a daily basis and helps students develop reading fluency. These CD book sets would be shared between the two 1st grade classrooms and enjoyed for many years to come!
