Imagine being the new kid in school every few years, sometimes living out of hotels before families get settled into their new communities? This experience is the norm for all of my students who come from very diverse backgrounds. However, all these students do have one thing in common; they are military students. Often I have a student who hasn't seen one of their parents for months during deployment. What makes these students special is that they are proud to have one or both of their parents serve in the army. One constant my students can count on is building relations in our classroom. They can be sure that they have a teacher who makes them work hard, provides an element of fun, and cares about them as individuals and the class as a whole. We are a family, that is one constant they can rely on during their station here.
