These books will be the foundation of a citizen science unit. Citizen science is where the public can interact with actual researchers by make observations of nature. It is the perfect way for students to build their scientific knowledge, observation skills, and self-confidence as they engage with their classmates as well as members of their community and even members of the science community. These books will spark curiosity and engage student thinking about the nature that surrounds all of us. In addition to backyard observations and other activities, students will see that they can act as stewards of nature, even as a 4th grader!
