Hablas espanol? Or any foreign language? My students do! I teach a 2 dual immersion classes of 8 and 9 year old Latinx children. The majority are native Spanish speakers but a growing number are Mam speakers from the highlands of Guatemala! Many of my students' parents have very little formal education and many do not speak English. I see it as a sacred trust to provide my children with the very best education to prepare them to be successful members of our society, ambassadors bridging cultural gaps between their home country and the United States.
