I am lucky to have a class of 22 eager to learn fifth grade students. Our school is located in Chicago and strives to meet the needs of students with a variety of learning needs. Over 70% of our students qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. Almost a third of our school consists of special needs students, who are often included in our general education classrooms. We are a relatively small school and therefore only have one classroom per grade. Because of this, our students are able to receive more individualized attention and acquire skills that will make them future leaders of the world. Despite the challenges that they face on a daily basis and the diversity of learners in our classrooms, our students work well collaboratively and are constantly seeking new things to discover.
