My first grade students attend an urban school where all of the students receive free lunch, often live in one parent homes where providing for basic needs takes a significant portion of the parent's time, and did not attend pre-school. They come to be with a variety of skills and talents--and with a variety of challenges academically, socially and emotionally. While my families have the best intentions and hopes for their children, there is a lot we must accomplish IN school to help them be successful! Despite living through more obstacles in their five short years than many adults, my students are resilient and have a deep love of learning and I want to do everything in my power to help them grow this love!

About my class
