The alphabet picture magnets and letter magnets will help our students with letter recognition, develop initial sound phonemic awareness and learn picture vocabulary. Students will develop their language skills to say the name of the picture and learn how to isolate the initial sound. They will represent the initial sound to the correct letter of the alphabet. The images also include pictures with words that represent short vowel and long vowel sounds, such as, "apple" and "acorn." This will help them develop the oral phonemic awareness to learn both sounds. The students will start working with a few letters and magnetic images that go with those specific letters to sort them by initial sound. They will say the name of the picture out loud and place them on their own magnetic whiteboard. The students can also use these whiteboards to practice writing the letters or simple sentences with each image. Having these items will develop consistency in resources and lessons amongst the 7 paraprofessional aides and teacher.
