The incentives funded by this project will be used for PBIS initiatives in our school. The goal of PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) is to encourage positive behaviors school-wide through proactive and preventive methods, not punishment. The PBIS Team at our school seeks to create a safe and positive school climate, where students learn and grow as individuals as well as part of a community. We plan and organize incentives that every student in the school can earn by demonstrating positive behavior. However, as with most public schools, staff often have to fund these incentives from our own pockets. With a student population that is well over 1000, this is a daunting task. Our students don't ask for much...an ice cream party, popcorn, extra time to play games with their friends, and even school supplies are among the items at the top of their lists! The incentives funded by this project will help us reward the students in our school who are making good choices and demonstrating positive behavior.
