These Lego animals will draw students' attention and they will be excited to write about them. It will require them to observe and translate the details they see into words, by connecting previous taught nouns, adjectives and conjunctions to form a sentence. A tangible object in their hands also requires more senses to process their information, including perceptual ability which will leave a stronger impression from what they learned. We would also utilize those pieces to play a Chinese board game we have already created. This will enrich their love for learning and feel supported.
