I am so proud of my students and the progress they have made as emerging readers. Being a first year teacher, in a low resource area, it is difficult to grow our classroom library. My kindergarten students love reaching for books throughout the day, and I as their teacher want nothing but to encourage their excitement about books. It is amazing to see them light up with joy and pride after reading and finishing a book. Reading books gives our young scholars that time to discuss important elements like characters, settings, plots and making predictions. There is no substitute for simply sitting and happily reading a good book. A growing library would truly mean a lot to our little classroom!
