My multicultural group of second graders are lively learners who are always looking for new experiences. Listening to literature, both fiction and non-fiction, will provide all of my students with an opportunity to hear books read to them in fluent English. There are many students without English speaking parents and therefore they do not hear books read to them fluently very often. Our classroom needs 20 personal CD players to listen to books on CD independently. This will allow for students to hear fluent reading more frequently. Your help will make it possible for all of my students to hear fluent English speakers read literature on a daily basis. This will give them confidence and help them feel more successful while reading aloud in class and while reading independently.
