The Explore Learning website allows teachers to create classes, assign virtual labs that are aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards, and have access to corresponding assessments. The online labs (Gizmos) are assignable to students and they can be used for whole class, small group, and even individualized learning. Gizmos provide lab opportunities that otherwise would be inaccessible in the classroom. Imagine watching millions of years of continental drift or weathering and erosion all within a single class period. With Gizmos, students can experience science in ways that we could never imagine in the classroom. The background reading supports informational text objectives, teaching students to read for understanding, and the virtual labs allow students to study phenomenon with mathematical data that would not otherwise be available. Each virtual lab provides levels of instruction to reach all learners, even the most advanced.
