This carpet will provide a designated area where students can read away from their desk. This is just the first step in setting up an area that will be comfortable for the students to sit with their classmates. My students have special needs, and to have a colorful rug with the alphabet will be exciting for them. We can actually do phonics and literacy assignments with the alphabet carpet. The students will be able to identify the letters and letter sounds. For example, I can say sit on the letter that begins with the same sound as apple. The students will benefit from identifying letters and letter sounds using the carpet as a tool. In addition it will provide a comfortable space for my students to relax and read.
