Lakewood High School is a comprehensive urban high school serving a diverse population of more than 3300 students. We are one of the few schools within our district that still offers students the opportunity to experience a ceramics program. They are taught traditional hand-building, wheel throwing, surface techniques, and the rich cultural, historical, and contemporary approaches to the art. We are looking for outside sources to grow our program and make it thrive. We currently have 10 potter's wheels and 3 smaller electric kilns that will soon need to be replaced. In addition to studio equipment, two of our greatest needs are tools and materials. It is our vision to equip our students with the skills and knowledge to be successful in the 21st-century while respecting and continuing on with traditions of our past.
