My students need books at various levels that have colorful images and are of high interest to keep them engaged and motivated to learn to read. All of my students are performing at different reading levels and often become overwhelmed and intimidated when presented with books that are above their level of comprehension. Unfortunately, this diminishes their self-confidence and turns them away from wanting to read in the future and/or improving their reading comprehension skills. As an avid reader, I want to teach my students the joy of getting "lost" in a book and not being able to put it down until you finish it. It can be very challenging finding quality books for struggling readers at their appropriate levels, so this library will provide my students with a variety of books to match their specific needs. They will have access to appropriate books at their level and higher levels as their reading skills improve. They will be able to work on their speech and language goals using motivating and exciting materials. The library will allow me to monitor and assess their reading and comprehension skills and target their specific needs while supporting their academic work in their classrooms. Your generous donation to our project will improve our speech and language room by building an exciting reading center. Our students will feel successful and learn to love to read at an early age.
