My students have a higher need for sensory input than their peers in the general education classroom. I am requesting flexible seating, a weighted blanket, chair bands, and a variety of sensory toys. Sensory breaks with these items will allow my students to self-calm, release energy, relax, and fulfill their different sensory needs so that they are ready to learn. I am also requesting a rug to provide my students with a calm sensory area in our classroom. Sensory breaks allow my students to be successful learners! Access to these sensory materials will ensure that each student's needs are met. It will also prevent them from getting bored with our limited supply of items. This will keep them excited about school. Most importantly, it will allow them to focus on their learning!
