My students are struggling in reading in class. So, my job is to pull them in a small group and help them to be reading at grade level. Unfortunately, because I have so many students I am not able to have them take books home that we read in our small groups. If they did take them home I would not have enough books to use with my other groups. Studies show that struggling readers need to be immersed in high interest and leveled reading in order to reach the goal of reading at grade level. This will happen if my students use the Scholastic Storyworks series in our small groups and then they are able to take them home and read them with their families. The other Scholastic series can also be used int he same way. My goal is to provide more reading opportunities at home.
