My struggling readers need colorful engaging illustrations and easy to read print. Some students need transitional chapter books as their reading skills improve. Stronger readers want books that have a fresh look and feel. A love of reading can never be taken from a child. Whether the child is a struggling reader or a strong reader, a child who reads is already on the road to a life of success. As times have changed so has children's literature. These books will meet the needs of my current students as well as my students in the future. With this set of books, students will have a selection of interesting reading material at their level, in their book bins waiting to be read. As they read these books during our Daily 5 rotations and during their free time, they will improve their fluency and comprehension. With increased access to books at their level, students will be able to take AR tests, reach their AR goals, and attend each quarter's AR party. Most importantly, the students will become stronger readers which increases their potential to graduate.
