We have been researching innovative ways to give our students math enrichment. We have come across a program called guided math. Students will receive whole group instruction, then we will break them off into groups. They will be responsible to complete several activities during the hour. Each group will include spinner games (reviewing the concepts previously taught), independent work (work on the concept currently taught), and guided groups (small group instruction with the teacher). We will also bring math literature into our whole group instruction. This program will help us reach all learning levels and engage all students the entire math period. We will be spending the money on the supplies needed to create our spinner games, independent work, and the money to buy the program. We will also be buying books that teach each concept, bringing literature into our math lessons. This will help ALL of our second grade classrooms in our school.
