School gardens are a wonderful way to use the schoolyard as a classroom. We want to reconnect students with the natural world and the true source of their food. The goal is to teach students and to integrate the garden with several subjects, such as reading, math, science, art, health and physical education. We want students to gain a sense of responsibility and ownership for their garden. We are in desperate need of a new glass greenhouse and plants. These materials will make a difference as we teach the students nutrition and growing a healthy lifestyle. The Garden will encompass not just fruits, herbs, and vegetables. The Garden will also feature other landscaping which will teach the students about plant life. We hope to have a butterfly bush and to teach students about the butterfly lifecycle in our garden this spring. The Garden has a Koi pond with benches for the kids to read outdoor. The students once had a turtle and are looking for a new one to live in our pond. This is the central location in our school, I want to help build it into a beautiful home for our students to love and fully grow. Please help our schools garden dream come true!
