As mentioned, my students come from difficult walks of life. Many of my students' only meal for the day is the school's lunch. Because of this, they are hungry, uncomfortable, and unfocused in the classroom. We are requesting water and snacks so they do not go hungry during the school day! Unless students' basic needs are met, learning in the classroom becomes extremely challenging. When these students are provided with snacks, and are no longer starving in class, it is easy to see their productivity go up. I have upwards of 40 students a day coming to my office asking for a snack to help them get through the day. I need help to make this happen, and give my students the best chance to learn!
