Albert Einstein said, "I never teach my pupils, I only provide them with the conditions in which they can learn." This is exactly what I want to provide my students, a place where they can learn outdoors. Not every student excels at being indoors while reading, studying math facts, writing in their journal or participating in a class discussion. My classroom has a small grassy area right outside the door with a picket fence surrounding it. This seating would allow my learners to go outdoors during independent learning time or when we have an outdoor learning discussion. Outdoor learning areas provide a pathway for learners to excel. Howard Gardener believed in multiple intelligences. He believed that people have innate abilities to learn when they are met with their learning style: naturalistic, spatial, tactile, visual, interpersonal, intrapersonal, tactile-kinesthetic, and musical. These learners need an chance to learn their way. Please help us by giving us an outdoor learning environment.
