Oh! There are some many ways that these books will help my fifth graders... And not just my current 40 students in my literacy classes, but the ones for years to come! Each title that I have chosen for my project is one that will inspire a boy or girl to love reading. And for my lower level readers, I have ensured that each of the titles that are on this list are available for download from our local library's audiobooks called Overdrive, so they can have someone "read the book to them." That way all my students will have access to the same books. Research has shown that exposing children to books to literature that is above their reading level does help to make them become better readers. That is the goal of my project.
