Giving students the ability to move to floor seating (giant pillows, bean bag seats, and floor seats) and be comfortable while working and learning is engaging as well as fun. In our class, we will be doing project-based learning which emphasizes communication, collaboration, critical-thinking, and creativity and innovation. Allowing the students to choose where and how they can work gives them greater control of their own learning and emphasizes the crucial aspects of the project-based learning approach. Giving students more control helps to also develop their leadership skills while increasing their ownership of their own classroom environment. Developing all these skills in students with visual impairments prepares them to be the capable adults they were meant to be!
