I teach with another classroom teacher. We share a double classroom and 31 students who have dubbed themselves " The Superkids." They are living up to their name. These kids are beautifully diverse. Their families are from 8 different countries and speak 14 different languages. Most of them have gone to our school since kindergarten, but several of them moved here from other schools in Madison, Milwaukee, or Chicago. We often ask them to "mix it up" at their tables and when we meet on as a whole class: they are getting to know people who look different and come from different cultures while still keeping old friends. They love storytelling, butterflies, laughing and drawing. They like addition more than subtraction. They are kind, friendly and helpful. We have Outdoor Education every Monday. Our students have gotten covered in burrs, put up tents, eaten fresh garden food, and asked myriad questions about the world.
