Many of my students came into first grade with set ideas about how to read and "do" math. Part of my goal as a teacher is to widen their definitions of reading so they understand that reading can also be listening to a book or retelling a familiar story. Incorporating more technology into the classroom makes it easier to guide my students to become independent learners with the skills necessary to success. They will have far more opportunities to listen to reading, work through a tough problem with a friend or record a story for an audience. These two iPads can provide for hours of productive struggle for my quick learners while helping me scaffold lessons for english language learners.
