The computer lab in our school is outdated and many of the computers don't work. Each class gets approximately 20 minutes per week in the computer lab, which isn't much time, and that is spent on all subjects and as reward time. Many of my students don't have computers or internet service at home. I am requesting 4 Chromebooks like the school has purchased for the older grades so that my students get to improve their skills in both reading and technology. By getting the same as what they will be using when they are older, they will already know how to use them and be more comfortable with them. The internet has many, many websites that teach and use reading skills which are free or low cost. This will add variety to my lessons and help my students in learning about and integrating technology so they will become better and more capable students and community members. I have tried bringing in my devices from home but because they are older, they don't always work with the WiFi in our building.
