A lot of my students are at a multitude of different learning levels and styles and often times need a large amount of support. The use of technology has really aided in building a foundation of interest in topics that students wouldn't even consider in the past. Without the support of technology, especially in science, students confidence levels crash and burn. Much of this technology allows my students the function of having something read to them, chunking words into parts so they can learn proper pronunciation, hearing words that are unfamiliar and practicing vocabulary in an interesting way. Imagine how difficult science must be for a struggling reader? The headphones allow students to really focus in on what they are working on. The ability to work at their own pace and give full attention to their efforts is fundamental to their success.
