Currently my classroom is not set up to meet the needs of my energetic bubbly choice-seeking first graders that love to learn through technology. These simple, but affective tools will grant my students control of their own learning. Throughout the past couple of weeks, I have been introducing interactive literacy and math websites where the students can learn through their interests and by their learning levels. Unfortunately, many of the families were not able to provide their students with headphones due to their economic status. Due to this, many of my students have to mute the volume on their chrome books during this time, which has made it difficult for them to learn what they are working on. This has also deceased their motivation to learn through technology. I believe that by providing each of my students with headphones will not only help them learn, but it will also help them stay focused and engaged! I also believe that by providing my first graders with flexible seating options will help them find a comfortable spot in the classroom where they can learn best. By allowing my students to use desk trays and wobble cushions will also help them stay focused and on task as they are learning new and exciting topics. Overall, I believe each of these tools will help my students achieve success in first grade.
