At the moment, our school only has one functional flute. Although we only have 4 clarinets and 5 trumpets, they are at least a section! One flute will never be heard clearly through larger sections of wind and brass instruments, and I firmly believe that a student needs at least one another student playing the same instrument in their section for support. If you were in band in school, can you imagine the school band not having a flute section? That is currently what we are working with at Lincoln School. We have clarinets, trumpets, percussion, and even two trombones, but only one flute!
