Have you ever sat in a meeting and had trouble focusing on what the speaker was saying? Everyday there are students in my classroom that have trouble focusing on their learning. Many of them need to wiggle or move around, which causes them to lose focus on their learning. They have trouble focusing on what the teacher or other students are saying during morning meetings, lessons, and even during free time activities. These children in my classroom are smart but many of them need to wiggle. I decided to purchase an adult wobble stool for myself. I soon found myself sharing my stool with students in my classroom. I immediately noticed that my students were able to focus better when they were wiggling on my wobble stool. Students that couldn't focus long enough to get a sentence written were writing three and four sentences. Students that were struggling to focus during a math lesson were active listeners and participated in class discussions. Having kid sized wobble chairs in my classroom would make my students that need to wiggle very happy and they would be able to focus better on their learning.
