My school currently does not have access to enough of these titles for students to work collaboratively in an intensive study of the themes, symbols, and complex characters presented in these works. Students have already voted on these titles as choices for literature circles. In groups of 4-5, students will independently read through the text. During class time, groups will meet twice per week to discuss the novel. Each student will be assigned a role within their group. At the completion of the literature circle, students will create multi-media presentations to teach their class about the themes, symbols, figurative language, and complex characters they discussed as they read the novel.
