Reading for pleasure has a huge impact on student success. Students that read more tend to have higher self-esteem, improved concentration, higher level critical thinking skills, a stronger memory, and an expanded vocabulary. Even before the pandemic, our school library was underutilized, and unfortunately, it is reflected in our students' overall academic achievement. We are rebuilding and restructuring our library usage so that we can become a place that students will want to flock to. We want to add highly engaging reading materials that better reflects our student and community population.
