A big part of a TPRS (Teaching proficiency through reading and story telling) classroom is reading. Providing students with novels written carefully to include language at their level is integral to the acquisition process. Cultural topics as well as current and adolescent issues are included in these simple yet interesting novels that allow for conversations and learning experiences as students acquire the language. I am looking to purchase a class set of novels that will be used with students at the second and/or third year of Spanish. When using novels last year it was easy to see the joy they experienced as they read a novel in the target language. Many language students struggle with reading paragraphs in a typical language class and when they realize they are capable of reading and discussing a novel it brings them joy and satisfaction. These novels are written specifically for language students and are made accessible and enjoyable both in the topics and language level.
