Each day students stop for 30 minutes in the middle of the day to focus on social and emotional learning. There are 17 middle school classrooms that I rotate through as a counselor, teaching different social and emotional skills. We focus on meditation, breathing, journaling and art therapy. One piece of my project will be to provide students with an opportunity to paint or color to help lessen anxiety. Another piece of my project students will be guided in focusing their attention on team building. I would like to use the Breakout Edu box to help encourage positive and fun teamwork. All of these resources will be used to guide the student in different topics which will help build unity within our school, heal hearts from the trauma that our students have dealt with and encourage our students to be empathetic towards others. This will help each individual student to be more prepared to become global citizens and also help build the culture of our school.
