At our school, we have a goal of developing a strong love for reading at an early age. In order to do this, have a 2-teacher literacy model built into our comprehensive literacy instruction. This means our youngest readers learn in small groups, resulting in more individualized attention for each student. During their independent reading block, scholars use a reading program to continue to help scholars develop a love for reading but independently. This project will allow for scholars to better engage in literacy based computer instruction, without any distraction. Rather than hearing the voices of the other two teachers in the classroom and the sounds of their peers' computer, the headphones will allow them to better zone in on their own individualized learning and continue to grow as a reader!
