Young children show us time and time again that they learn best through play. As teachers, we have students engage in Think-Pair-Share, small groups, and partner work when we teach core subjects because we want them to learn to work with others and develop problem-solving skills. Yet, we often overlook "playtime" as a chance for them to develop these same skills. I strongly believe that through structured, purposeful play--that asks students to engage in educational and/or social-emotional skills--students are authentically learning and growing these skills on their own. My goal is to provide as many resources in my classroom as possible, for my students to engage in a "playtime" that will allow them to become great learners, while still valuing them as children first.

About my class
