My students attend our new charter school in urban Southern California. They are the first to enter our unique 4th-8th grade school, and they often come in from under-performing schools in the area and perform far below their grade level. Their families choose to send them to our charter school because they know that their children can achieve. They want the best for them and are usually dissatisfied with the status quo. There are no prerequisites for attending our school, besides a desire to learn and the willingness to work hard. So, while at our school, we push our students to the highest standards. As writers, we expect them to use resources and skills that we teach them to continuously become better writers. That's where the thesauruses come in! : )
