My high school students are needing to access their grade level curriculum but struggle because they are reading 2-7 years below their grade. This affects their ability to be successful. Having a computer would help them have equal access to their curriculum. These Chromebook computers will open a whole new world for my students. Currently they pretend to read or refuse to write a paper because they don't have the skills to do it independently. There isn't enough resources to hire aides to read textbooks to students or scribe for them. A student could borrow a computer and use it in their history class to write a paper using predictive text software. Another student could also borrow a computer for science class to read their test that the teacher emailed to them. Having computers will decrease a students dependency on others. It will open doors that many of these students haven't walked through because of their disability.
