I teach at a high-poverty school in an urban district. My kindergarteners come to me at the beginning of the year with different backgrounds, life experiences, and prior knowledge, but they are so eager to learn! In our classroom, we are readers, writers, scientists, and mathematicians. We love hands-on learning, using technology, and activities that get us out of our seats moving! Center time is the most important part of the day, because it allows scholars to work at their level through engaging activities. My favorite thing as a teacher is to see students light up with enthusiasm when learning something new!
