Who doesn't want to be validated for doing the right things? Our high school is one of the only high schools in our district to be implementing the Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS). Through the implementation of PBIS, Grizzly PRIDE (Personal Responsibility, Respect, Integrity, Diversity and Excellence) was created and these are the expectations for all students, staff and community members. The concept is simple: define behavior expectations, teach them to staff and students, and spontaneously and frequently reward the students who are following the behavior guidelines (instead of focusing and punishing those who are not). With PRIDE, we are creating a positive learning environment, validating good behavior, and building skills that will serve our students long after they have graduated.
