Autistic students are unique individuals. Autistic students are different in many ways; however, most share one characteristic, the lack of social skills. As we attempt to implement Applied Behavioral Analysis based strategies, we lack the motivational component that will help us successfully service our Autistic students. The robotics curriculum would be used on Fridays to supplement our traditional text-based science curriculum. The implementation of a robotic curriculum will dramatically improve my student's performance in three areas: (1) it will improve social skills as they will collaborate and work together, (2) it will motivate them to learn less-preferred subjects as robotics is a highly desirable activity, and (3) access to robotics will be used as a positive reinforcement for completing their daily work assignments.
