The environment in my classroom is: genuine, rigorous, supportive, engaging, resilient and motivating. Students in my class are learning to take ownership of their own learning. Because of the passion I have for my subject area and my strong desire to share it with the kids, my class is definitely engaging. Every student in my classroom has a voice and everyone in the room must respect it. Creating a collaborative community is essential to taking risks and deeper learning. I care about each and every student in my classroom and they know it. Taking the time to know my students well, not just as learners, but also as people has helped to create a real sense of belonging in our shared space. No matter the obstacles they face outside the class, most strive to be do and be their best every single day.
