We are a Title 1 City School and all but one of our students are qualified for a free lunch. My paycheck generally supports our classroom, its difficult to find financial support from parents who are in such great need themselves. We are the classic representation of the research with our students, beginning their education in a state of diminished experiences and vocabulary compared to their middle class counterparts. Anything that promotes their excitement and interest, thereby encouraging communication can and will bolster their education.
