My kids deserve their own spot on a real rug. It would do away with so much of the touching and personal space invasions I work through daily. Without a rug, some students will push the expectations of where they should be sitting. The rug gives no room for argument. This will increase learning time and allow my students to stay focused. As a newer teacher, I've depleted so much of my own out-of-pocket money just to get my classroom started. Every student should come to school and be greeted with a new tub of crayons and other supplies, but also a place to sit. Thank goodness I was able to provide most of the supplies. This rug was out of my budget, but I know it would make such a difference in helping my students learn and respect each others' space.
