Having a class of 29 second graders makes tight fitting quarters and very little room to form small groups . Shuffling chairs around to form groups wastes precious time and can make for unsafe movement around the room. Acquiring padded stools for small group seating would allow for safe, speedy transitions and specialized learning stations within the room that can remain set up for use at all times. The whiteboard markers allow for brainstorming, prewriting, math calculations and estimations, without using a lot of paper. The art paper will be used to creatively express math project, art projects, and science projects. Students work hard learning how to collaborate with reading , writing, math and inquiry activities that scaffold knowledge upwards. Small group activities also build self esteem by implementing job skills such as coach, distributer, vocabulary builder, recorder, presenter, etc. The proper furniture and materials added to this class will enhance the flow and positive academic atmosphere of the classroom.
