My second grade students LOVE to read and write. They are curious about authors and the publishing process. What better way to help them learn about the complete writing process than to provide them access to the technology to become published authors right in our own classroom! The ability to create an author station, complete with printer, will serve as our class publishing house and printing press! Supervised use of a laptop and printer will give the students independence and ownership to publish their own writing to share with their classmates. The writing process will come full circle by giving each student the opportunity to read, write, edit, revise, and publish. Students will also take turns peer editing to help each other improve their writing skills. Collaboration with other peer authors will include reading manuscripts and writing reviews to promote the writing of their peers.
